Father's Day Craft Ideas - How To Make a Key Holder for a Father's Day Gift

This Father's Day consider being creative when contemplating a gift to give dear ol' Dad. Sure, a shirt or tie is good, socks are even handy to have, but how about making something unique and special for Dad on his special day?

When he comes in from work at the end of the day or is tired from a long day of playing golf, wouldn't it be nice if he had somewhere to hang his keys? A key holder would come in handy for Dad so when the next day arrives and he's running late for work he will know exactly where his keys are!

Here's how to make a key holder from a wooden spoon:

Materials Needed:

1 Wooden Spoon
4 Axle Pegs 7/32 Shank
Acrylic Paint For Base Coat
Acrylic Paint (You want it to contrast with Base Coat)
Acrylic Paint (Black)
Clear Glaze
Metallic Gel Pen
Adhesive Strips

Instructions:

Drill four 16/64" holes in the handle of wood spoon approximately 2 inches apart. Use a rubber mallet and hammer pegs into holes on backside of spoon.

Base coat spoon and pegs.

Trace the word "KEYS" and trace keyhole onto the backside of the spoon.

Paint "KEYS" and peg tops with your chosen acrylic paint (not the base coat paint)

Paint the keyhole black and let dry. Outline with gel pen.

Apply glaze.

Cut one of the adhesive strips in half and stick to the middle and end of the handle. Place a whole strip at the base of the spoon bowl where the handle starts.

Dad will thank you for helping keep him organized with this handy key holder. What a neat handmade Father's Day gift!
